Has Shiela Dixit Govt. Turned Delhi into a Jungle?

By Oshon - Posted on 19 December 2009

Now Mrs. Shiela Dixit has been the chief minister of Delhi for more than eleven years. And it is the only achievement she and her ministers can be proud of.

Actually problems in Delhi have multiplied since she took the chair of Chief Minster. It doesn't mean that she or her ministers did not try to solve the problems. They did many things but they simply failed.

How can you assess the work of the ministers in a simple way? Just answer a few questions.

1. Have they been able to control rising prices?

Not at all. Problem is worse. People are unable to make both ends meet. They are crying to no advantage.

2. Have they been able to solve the headache of traffic jams?

It is just increasing faster. It is very difficult to go to other places. Delhi Roads are hell especially for students and patients.

3. Are the people feeling more comfortable in travelling to various places in Delhi?

Public transport is as inefficient as before. Metro trains are also becoming crowded like buses.

4. Are our Roads in a better condition?

Most of the roads are narrow and broken. Repairs are slower than the walk of a tortoise.

5. Have the tax structure been made smoother?

No. Instead every year new taxes are planned to burden the people more. Where is all the money going?

6. Are women feeling safer in the government headed by a woman?

Not at all. Crimes against women have not subsided. Nobody cares.

7. Are people free from electricity and water problems as promised?

Not at all. There are heavy electricity cuts in summer like before. Moreover you have to pay high rates. Billing is faulty. Good supply of water is rare. Broken pipelines, contaminated water, rising rates have pushed the people harder.

8. Have the government made Delhi cleaner and greener?

Lot of promises but little work. Delhi is now dirtier than before. It is still one of the dirtiest cities in the world.

There are so many problems (old and new) that it won't be easy to write about all. Problems of corruption, crime, residential houses, job-sealing, employment, increasing population, and health-care are a few among the dozens more.

In brief most of people are so fed up by the poor standard of life in Delhi that they just want to leave this city. But they are unable. After all it is not an easy task to shift work and families to a new place.

Now the question is whether BJP government will be able to perform better? People don't think so. Making a lot of promises these people entered the MCD with majority but what did they do?

People, actually, have lost faith in all the political parties this is why they are more frustrated.

This city is turning into a jungle and no party is serious or willing enough to do anything to make this city a better place for living.
